sallet

A type of helmet worn in 15th Century Europe, evolving from the earlier bascinet and into the later armet and close helms.

Sallets are characterized by "tails" of varying length to protect the back of the neck. They may or may not have visors, which can be hinged or a solid part of the helmet.
