The SIG P320 is a modular striker-fired semi-automatic handgun made by SIG Sauer. It features a separated trigger group which can be switched between various models, utilizing a striker-fired mechanism in lieu of a double action only hammer system. Available in various calibers.
On 19 January 2017, the P320 was chosen to replace the Beretta M9 as the main service pistol of the US Army.
The P320 has also become infamous for its issues with uncommanded discharges, usually resulting from the gun being dropped or inserting/removing the gun from a holster. Many US organizations have banned or discontinued use of the P320 due to safety concerns; uncommanded discharge incidents have also led to several lawsuits. SIG has maintained that the P320 is a safe pistol, and blame these incidents on user error. The whole ordeal spawned countless jokes about the P320, and SIG themselves.
