subcul jirai

A fashion style under the umbrella of Jirai Kei, forgoing the usual Ryousangata staples of frilled blouses and suspender skirts in favor of a darker style more broadly influenced by other alternative subcultures such as emo, gothic punk, yami kawaii and streetwear.

Color palettes often consist of black, gray, purple, and red. Layered clothing, chains, straps and harnesses, track jackets, striped patterns, fishnets, leg warmers and boots are all common elements.

Subcul is the style most commonly worn by "jirai danshi", or landmine boys, as opposed to the Ryousangata type.

Do note that サブカル is sometimes also used for subcultures in general.
