takatsuki yoshino

One of the central characters of Hourou Musuko. He is a teenage transgender boy who struggles with gender dysphoria, and the first person to befriend Nitori Shuuichi. He is harassed by the other boys in his class due to their perception of him as a tomboy.

He wore the male uniform to school for a little while until puberty started and he received ridicule from classmates, so he began to wear the female uniform instead to avoid drawing attention to himself, as well as to show support for Shuuichi, who was not allowed to wear the female uniform she wanted to.

In the manga as life goes on, he is worn down by social pressures, and begins to internally question his gender identity. He constantly tries to reaffirm his masculinity, but eventually gives up, due to being exhausted from years of fear and rejection. He is noted to still consider himself a man deep down, and that transitioning would be the best path for him, but he lacks any motivation or strength to actually pursue it.
