tiara

A crown-like semicircular head ornament, usually made of precious metals and adorned with gems or other ornaments. Often worn by fantasy heroines, princesses or pop idols.

Compared to a crown, the band of a tiara is usually narrow and shaped like a semi-circle. A tiara is normally worn on the top of the head, not over the forehead like a circlet.
