A kind of tight-fitting, rigid metal necklace, usually with an opening at the front. Some had hinges, clasps or catches, but most were a single, solid piece and were intended to be worn semi-permanently.
Torcs were an important status symbol for the ancient Celts and contemporaneous European cultures.
