type 11 lmg
The first light machine gun to be mass-produced for the Imperial Japanese Army. The weapon is easily distinguished by its open-topped ammunition hopper, which was also the weapon's greatest defect: allowing dirt and mud to easily infiltrate the gun, leading to jams. This gave the gun a poor reputation amongst Japanese soldiers, and calls to fix it led to the Type 11's successor, the Type 96 lmg.
