wolfsangel

A symbol that originated in medieval Germany as a mark of freedom among rebel peasants. Is shaped like an ancient German iron trap desgned to catch wolves.

It is now often associated with Nazi ideology in modern times because of its use by different Waffen-SS units during World War II.

The wolfsangle is often confused with the more ubiquitous swastika.
