ヤマノススメ 向山进发

Yama no Susume (ヤマノススメ) is a 2011 mountain-climbing themed manga series by Shiro.

The series follows Yukimura Aoi after she has entered high school. She reunites with a childhood friend, Kuraue Hinata, who she hasn't seen since elementary school. Hinata is surprised to see how much Aoi has changed, as Aoi has become the complete opposite of what she was like in elementary school. Aoi had an accident where she broke her leg from falling on the playground, which lead to her changes. Hinata helps to encourage Aoi to rekindle her childhood interest in mountain climbing.

The series has been serialized in Comic Earth☆Star since August 12, 2011. It was published in English as Encouragement of Climb by JManga before the company went defunct in 2013. As of March 2026, twenty-seven volumes have been released.

The first anime adaptation by 8bit began airing on January 3, 2013. This was followed by a second and third season, which began airing July 9, 2014 and July 3, 2018, respectively. Several OVAs were also published, including an anime-only story.

A video game adaptation, Yama no Susume: Next Summit ~Ano Yama ni, Mou Ichido~ (ヤマノススメ Next Summit ～あの山に、もう一度～), was released December 7, 2023 in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
