Monsters from Final Fantasy IX. The regular Yan is a difficult enemy. The friendly variant is the last part of the friendly monsters sidequest. Unlike the other friendly monsters, it will fight back and is even more difficult than the regular Yans.
The superboss "Friendly" version appears in Final Fantasy XIV as one of Sugar Riot's summons in the Savage version of her raid. Upon the Savage raid's release, the Friendly Yan quickly gained notoriety within the fandom, thanks to its cartoonish appearance yet extremely high damage output, even moreso when buffed with the Mu.
