Determined bird Okuu is very cute.

Lots of head trauma for both teams in this match. Which may or may not play out in the fight against Moriya. (Probably not.)

Well seeing that Okuu and Tenshi are doomed since transformations drain a lot of power in the barrier and will heavily exhaust Okuu and she is currently useless anyway since she "broke" both her hands and a foot.

I can't help but notice the uncanny and insane amount of punishment Tenshi is getting in this match compared to any other in this ring. If she stands up after this, she is the textbook definition of tank. Like, wow.

I just realized something that should have been obvious: Tenshi is the only one in the ring that doesn't have a "activate ability/transformation" to burn power using.

And for that matter, Did we see the results of Tenshi training with Yuugi? In this match all she did is getting beaten apparently

A "normal" human getting a headbutt from altitude from her blind side...without Time-Stop (presumed).

    Ouch!

She's not off Tenshi though. Though I don't know if that will stop the pin count. Though Aya seems distracted by the impact.

Okuu would be kind of sexy if that didn't look like it hurt so much.

We've had our double panel... this thing is winding up now. Everyone's almost dead already, so what would even be the point?

I think it's more likely that if Okuu is still conscious she could go for a pin... and might get it if Suika falls unconscious from the effort of giant form outside the ring. Of course, Suika could also fall into the ring and we could end up with a pile of unconscious bodies with the pin going to whoever's on top.

Win by knockout would be different, but double out would leave Sanae's group with no one to fight in the Semifinals.

That outcome might be more likely than you think though. When everyone is down and the crowd goes wild, then Tenshi stands up. Ridiculous maybe, but I want Tenshi to at least do something awesome in this match.
But of course, everyone can just pass out and the match ends, leaving us to wonder who wins, like in the Lotus Tiger vs Moriya. I guess Dei doesn't want these matches to end decisively.

I wouldn't say that though. Didn't the barrier only prevent abilities or drain their strengths for using them?
Okuu's are quite different from Suika's since hers seems to be an innate skill as opposed to Suika's, which derived from her abilities.
As for the "broken" limbs, it only means no more God moves from those limbs. What did you think Okuu used to try to hold down Suika before?

I don't know about Sakuya, she seems to really be on her limit there. But I won't count Okuu though, it's not like this is a God Headbutt or something. I don't think she'll think it "broke". And LOL from Momiji's, "This attack might look funny but the impact is massive!" and Aya's reaction.

Yeah, I don't think Okuu really experiences much drain for bird form... other than it being innate and only used for very short periods, it's a smaller body with lower surface area. Giant form is asking for drain... massive volume and a tremendous increase in surface area.

There has been a lot of head trauma in these last few matches. Team Lotus White Tiger has massive amounts even after running into Tenshi, with there match with Sanae and Suwako. Now this.

Erin and the Kappas are going to need to do a lot of healing, and someone is going to have to do therapy once the tournement ends.

Byakuren had a double panel against Tenshi, and that didn't save her. :(

Okuu still has one remaining foot, she may actually be the last standing player of this match if she uses it against Suika :(

Everyone in this match is tired out. Suika's likely on her last bit of strength to be that big. Sakuya already said this is all she had left and was hoping to hold out for that last driver. Tenshi's been beaten badly. Okuu is about the only one that hasn't taken as much damage, but that impact looked like it hurt.

About the only way for Suika to hit Okuu's remaining foot (if powered) would be for her to land on Okuu's outstretched leg in counter to a flop of some kind.

Was thinking the same thing. Ice melting was the analogy used earlier; Flan was hemorrhaging energy because she quadrupled her exposure to the barrier, not necessarily because she altered her body.

I don't see how that could not be a KO on Sakuya. Would limply resting on someone whose shoulders are down even count?

By the "rules", yes, that could happen. But since Aya clearly was distracted by Okuu's attack, at the very least the count would get delayed. Given Tenshi time to at least raise a shoulder.

Okuu's transformation doesn't use up much energy as it seems an innate thing as opposed to special ability. But yeah that has got to have hurt.

Hmm. Worth noting that last-legs knocked-out Sakuya is defenseless. She's just a normal human now in punching bag terms. She's also her team's legal woman.

Given all that, if this match keeps going, she's in legitimate life-threatening danger. That may be enough to get Suika to throw in the towel.

Also, as a cloud, Unzan is all surface area, and he dissolved instantly just entering the back stage area (not even the ring). Exposure is what seems to matter... smaller forms should actually have lower drain (especially when they're actually your natural form).

That was the earliest use of double panels. The trope of finishing move double panels developed later... there were also three "finishing" double panels in the Higan/Immortals fight. In recent fights, the double panel signals the end is nigh.

How's about we agree that the Double Panel just means that, if it were in a video game, they'd be Supers. Huge damage, but not a guaranteed win.

Just because it's called a finisher, doesn't mean it always ends the match. Double pannels seem to mean either a finisher or a big moment.

No it wasn't, post #464050 was the first use of it.

I take it back there was a a double panel in Kaguya's fight fight.

Yes, early uses of the double panel didn't mean victory. Trope not established at that point. It pretty much does now... it's one of the three beats that now mark that a fight is ready to end: a decisive moment (conveniently labeled this time), everyone worn out, double panel finishing move attack. Add in the recent doubling release schedule, and this fight is clearly over in a couple strips.

It is about as consistent then as it is now. A double in of itself did not mean victory.

    1st fight - none
    2nd fight - Double victory
    3rd fight - Double victory
4th fight - 2 doubles 1 victory (middle of fight)
5th fight - 3 doubles 1 victory (15 or so pages from the first one I think)

    Now with the "established trope"

    6th fight - 1 "victory"
    7th fight - 2 1 victory (15 pages between)
    8th fight - 2 1 victory (14 pages between)
9th fight - 1 not tied to the victory or even close to it. (15 pages to end of fight)
10th fight - 1 but we knew the fight time limit was nearly over before the move was even started.
    11th fight - current one

Trope not established at that point.

The concept (trope or no) of a double panel meaning victory (since that is what we seemed to be discussing) was around after the second fight.

Scarlet 200% is what really threw it on its head with so many.

It pretty much does now... it's one of the three beats that now mark that a fight is ready to end: a decisive moment (conveniently labeled this time), everyone worn out, double panel finishing move attack. Add in the recent doubling release schedule, and this fight is clearly over in a couple strips.

If that is the actual trope then yes in general it applies well since Scarlet 200% with the exception of

    1. Kirimae Familia (didn't end with one)

    2. Both Lotus Whitestar matches (the teams were not really tired in either match).

Anyway my original point was that you implied a double panel (one) means it is over. I was pointing out that is not the case.

You said you meant after scarlet 200% which again is not the case.

A double panel is nothing more then a special move. It can come at any point in the fight.

The most appropriate kind of luck, to be sure.

I think Tenshi deserves some credit, though - she came up with no less than three counters to Sakuya's defense on the fly. Sakuya wasn't at her limit because she overexerted herself, Tenshi put her there.

plus Sakuya does get tired even before she had any (but one) of her parries countered. Also, credits also go to Satori telling Tenshi how Sakuya's defense works (Satori could've done a lot more, though still there was the possibility that drunken fist form Sakuya could've countered her mind-reading ability too). And... parrying takes skill (execution/timing), which contrasts Tenshi's natural defense (which Sakuya had to use against Tenshi, too, and also exploit the cracks in Tenshi's armor, created by Suika's strength).

Sakuya said she came with lots of strategies against HS, but forgot a basic one :( (Okuu against Tenshi)

I admit that, but Sakuya did extraordinarily well for a human, and Suika and Sakuya were dominating the match for the most part.
