Surströmming AND salmiakki? This isn't cooking, it's chemical warfare. Salmiakki might not be nearly as foul-smelling as surströmming, but the sharp taste means it can be somewhat of an acquired taste. It also has a laxative effect if you eat too much.

I love the stuff, but then again I grew up with it. I imagine people who are not from northern Europe or the Netherlands could have some problems with it.
