Actually, it is hard to find an accurate depiction of specific AK-series of assault rifle in Visual Arts (save for some artist have researched it well, ...damn few)

In this case as well, the AK does look like the AKM at first glance, but it does have some minor different, which made the gun in this picture a mixed AK-47/AKM rifle, namely;

The Pistol Grip, which is the AK-47 Wooden Pistol Grip.

The Receiver, which looks like a stamped steel AKM receiver, but with a base for the pistol grip, which only appear in an AK-47 milled receiver.

The Bolt Carrier, which colored silver, a feature exists in two types of AK-related rifle; the AK-47 and the Chinese Type 56

I think it falls under the "AK blanket" is what you mean. the number or letter that follows is just a model.
