Are we going to have a "dog in heat" joke/"plot twist" come up soon? Seems like dog/catgirls can't really ever seem to get away from that sort of gag. (Although we already had one of those for Seren, oddly enough.)

Strip 1: So, you have a bit of a pickle, Tamaryuu. On one side, a very affectuous dogbird and on the other side, a very possessive ghost. On two other sides, we have an angry childhood friend and your very inquiring lover/teacher.

Strip 2: Well, here's something unexpected. Here she goes licking Ran and Shizuki, she's outright claiming to be Tamaryuu's bitch and she wants to be their pet. Would that be a good thing for the three?

So let's recap: Ran-tan is Tama's husband, Shizuki is the wife and Catherine is the bitch pet bird-dog.

Well, I hope it turns out temporary - a harem can only get so big before it collapses under its own weight, and you don't get to see character development because there's so much "me too!" cut-ins to include everyone.

The three-way is amusing, but if it keeps expanding, again, I see Elly getting dragged in, and then there's nothing to stop the rest of the cast.

Judging by Sara's reaction, I think that the harem might end right about here. Girl is gonna go yandere if I'm any judge. Or violently protective friend. With extra emphasis on the violence.

Judging by how these sorts of stories go, anyone in the same cast herd that falls for this sort of thing will tend to have a sympathetic reaction that pulls the rest of their cast herd with them. If it doesn't turn out temporary, Sara may well be going for Tamaryu not long after Elly does, and her current "darling" would only be a speed bump in that regard.

Violently negative reactions to the concept are little defense against a plot that heads in the direction of a harem ending. The harem phenomenon is, at its core, a reflection of the notion that, "the main character should end up in a relationship with whatever other character I like most," in many fans, and an author that doesn't want to tell any of the readers that their fan-favorites are wrong. Hence, once a harem starts to spread, it becomes a matter of who you're going to actually leave out, rather than who you're going to let in. Any character of any popularity starts to have to get let in, regardless of how irrational it may be on the surface of it.
