Yeah Karanak seems to be copying Tony...probably even the name..."-nak", Taka? Then again...this is DA we are talking about, a lot of posers and art thieves running lose in there.

The image on the right looks nothing like Tony's work. Look at the feet. The big toes are on the inside.

Same style but isn't it considered a form of flattery?

I looked at Karanak's DA site. Just as Lunar said, Form of Flattery. He's got Tony Taka listed as one of his favorite artists...though looking through his gallery it seems all he's doing is copying rather than showing flattery. He's also got a few girls drawn in Yamashita Shunya's style as well.

I think it's plagiarism without doubts. Look at the face - it's full cpoy of T2 faces. The artist should show original art.

It's a partial copy. In fact, you can tell which parts were copied and which parts are original by how good they look. The legs and the face look like they were drawn by different people, because they were.

there are a fair share of Tony Taka "clones" if you want to call them that, on deviantart.
another artist to look into would be Aluciz, who also shows a fair amount of Tony Taka influence.

Isn't it possible that the person who drew the second picture studied Tony Taka's style, then drew a picture of a girl in a similar and common pose? the picture looks original enough to me. Doesn't mean it's plagiarism.

There's no problem with studying the art style of your favorite artist by copying (to some extent of course) your fav artist's drawings.

But Karanaka is kind of flaunting for attention with his study art...

hmm i dont see much of a problem here. Motivation/learning can occur from copying another persons work. But as long as hes not like taking the work and trying to make big money off of it its fine by me. BUt as a stepping stone to better himself...i see no problems
