This looks like a highly inefficient way to torture somebody.
Inefficiency is what makes it better. You COULD just pour hot wax on them or something, but this way it's preventable, and therefore if they get hurt there's the emotional pain of "Wow, I'm dumb for doing that" in addition to "Ow, that hurts".
