Well, I don't know about real owls (though I might presume that since owls are predators they wouldn't have whatever adaptions that allows some birds to eat despite the capsaicin), but since the Friends in KF have gained humanoid bodies they would.

In the anime itself when the Professor and Assistant have Kaban make curry for then they at first claim that the spiciness makes it uneatable, before unintentionally continuing to eat and then calling it an addicting flavor. Although, since it looked like Kaban used a normal chili pepper (possibly cayenne), it wouldn't be nearly as hot as the one in this image is supposedly going to be.

Poor Professor, her tongue would get fried.

The Professor did explain that by being a Friend aka humanized, they were able to taste food that are probably tasteless back when they are in their animal state.
