The book Nagato is reading (連絡帳) looks to be a special type of notebook used by kindergartens for parents and teachers to communicate with one another without having to meet face to face. The students act as courriers by taking the book to and from class with them.

Also, Mikuru in the picture is just adorable. Reminds me of a baby rabbit nibbling on a piece of lettuce.
