People complain about how Twilight's Bella is a useless idiot who gets manhandled by both her love interests, but some shoujo manga has outright rape by the love interests... even when the heroine is explicitly a child... and they REMAIN love interests after that....
The thing is, a male author in this sort of thing is doing it for Male Gaze. When they're being sadistic or humiliating a female character, it's for the purposes of sexual objectification, making them less of a sympathetic character before going onto the actual porn.
A female author that gets sadistic (or perhaps more accurately masochistic) is doing it explicitly as a character, reveling in the pain inflicted on the character. When the torture itself is the porn, it becomes torture porn that cannot get bask in it enough.

It probably is due to the fact KanColle present itselfs as a more grounded shipgirl game which ends up with people experiencing the sorrow of the shipgirl themselves (they make emphasis on that with voicelines) and some artist take this to other much darker places, is not uncommon for KC doujins adressing topics such as sexual abuse and historical politics unlike lets say AzurLane.
Also the correct term for KC shipgirls is Kanmusu since there isnt such thing as mentalcubes or some weird sci-fi shinanigans explaining their origins among other things like transforming their riggings into their irl vessel counterparts and Kanmusus can actually sink aside of narrative reasons(just to revived out of the blue like Bismarck Zwei).
AzurLane on the other hand has a ton of Netorare for not apparent reason, NTR artists just seem to like AL more from what i see. I think it's just because no one inAL want to be seen as some sick person who depicts the Kansen suffering while Kancolle understand war is hell and with it comes sexual abuse of the Kansen in believable situation (Like the Iris Libre being used as human cattle for rape like a fantasy rape VN, the nightclub a front for unsavoury activities and the Gulag skins having legitimate prison rape.)
