Very long titles have been going on for years. Only recently have they become anime. My friend got me a Japanese light novel that i have never heard of and its title runs all the way down the spine in 14 point font

it's no longer a title, it's a wikipedia description inserted into the title box.

whoever thought it was good idea to start doing that in the past should've been chained to a post and whipped until he reforms his ways.

I recall seeing an illustration page from one of the LNs a few years ago that was referencing these anti gravity skirts.

I'd guess the author got wind of the confusion and outrage from viewers expecting pantyshots and decided to have a little fun with it.
