So cute..... I'm jealous of they lunkhead admiral.

Also, that's an impressive string of exploding ordinance.

Bruh, the 40mm Bofors AA gun is no joke. If a Zero tries to sneak up on Atlanta, 8 of those bad boys gonna just clap its ass in an instant, he be mega ded. And that's not even mentioning the MGs and other autocannons. There's a reason why this particular model and its improved iterations were commonly used on Allied vessels as their dedicated heavy AA armaments.

Kinda funny too. Sweden spent a significant part of the war selling iron ore to the nazis, while at the same time selling guns/designs to the Allies. I guess this calls for "I'm always playing both sides, so that I always come out on top" meme.

Don't you mean her battery of 16 5"/38 DP guns?

Atlanta historically never carried Bofors. Her sisters were eventually refit/ordered with them, but she was sunk before she had the chance to get 'em.

But indeed, the Bofors 40mm was arguably the best of its class during the war.

Well, the thing is that the Japanese wouldn't be attacking ships with Zeroes unless they were desperate: it was designed as a fighter, not a bomber. That it came to be used for 'special attacks' started with accident, when bomb-laden aircraft damaged or destroyed by anti-aircraft fire managed to do damage to their targets anyways. It then became a matter of desperation in the face of the following facts: that increasingly heavy anti-aircraft armament along with the sheer magnitude of American naval and air superiority, as well as the general decline of the Japanese war effort, would make conventional air attacks on ships impossible to successfully carry out. The original Bofors, while indeed an excellent anti-aircraft weapon, simply lacked the range and weight of fire to eliminate some targets before they could carry out their mission, whether they were 'special attack planes' or jet aircraft bearing guided munitions.

As for Sweden's role in the Second World War II, it's a little more complicated than merely profiting off of conflict. Germany has almost always been Sweden's main trading partner, and the restrictive conditions brought about by the Battle of the Atlantic further limited its trading opportunities. That said, the Swedish were perhaps a little too willing to let German troops transit their territory into Finland prior to the invasion of Russia, although one might need to consider what the alternative might have entailed.

Given that Norway was occupied for most of the war and Finland was part of the Axis, I don't know that Sweden could have done much.

Finland wasn't part of the axis, initially, though. well its complicated. To my knowledge, it was three phases. Defensive, offensive with the axis against Russia, and then offensive with the allies against Germany.

Finland was never officially part of the axis but they were practically allied with Germany during the Continuation War. In the Lapland War it was the Finns driving the Germans away from Finland with no help from the allies except for against one German operation when they got minor Soviet air support.

    So yes, it's complicated.

Finland was "Fuck the Soviets", then "Fuck the Soviets with help from the Nazi's" and later "Well we better fight the Nazi's or else we gonna get fucked by the Soviets".

At least seems to me like a good enough shorthand.

It could well be the case that she wants to be able to give the Admiral a good report once he returns from Europe, no?
She was personally called upon by the Admiral to be the anti-air cornerstone of our defensive fleet here, you see.
    How laudable of her, hey?
    Lousy sons o'...
I can hear you, you know...
