How did Jean Bart win this time? By all accounts Massachussetts’ firepower is greater than hers.
Sure, in term of broadside firepower. But all forward armament of Jean Bart has its benefit. If they engaged head on before Massachussetts can turn to broadside, it's 8 to 6 gun advantage favored Jean Bart. If somehow Jean Bart can get a drop on Massachussetts from behind (possible from their speed difference), the initial firepower advantage is even greater (8 to 3).

And if we look at there stats on 120 lvl... than JB is ahead on all stats accept for luck and accuracy (difference 8). But JB has better reload (difference 23), FP (difference 5), speed (d 5), evasion (d 9). So just from those stats... JB has good advantage in battles one-on-one. Massachusets becames good if she is in EU fleet (1 skill), but JB can shine in any fleet (considering her skill give her good crits)

Sure but there’s the matter of an SHS shell being FAR more powerful than a 380mm shell, even in a 16/45"
I don’t think this is a representation of that engagement, but rather a fight here both were on the same side, Mass happened to receive more injuries than Jean and so Jean is supporting her
