Yeah, If I was Reimu, I'd pay with just the coupon alone. At the end of the day, it's as if I paid the entire half of the bill anyway, right?

well yeah thats literally what shes doing if you had the power to remove 1500 yen off a bill then you have paid 1500 yen therfore you deserve the discount

The meal was 3,000 yen (i.e. they can be imagined to have eaten 1,000 yen's-worth each, although Reimu probably went for broke) and were going to split the bill (i.e. each pay 1,000 yen).

End result of Reimu's coupon is we go from R M and S each paying 1,000 yen for a 3,000 yen bill, to M and S each still paying 1,000 yen (totaling 2000) and Reimu leaving 500 yen up after taking the change for the 1,500 yen bill and giving nothing but the coupon.
