This is arguably the best fight in this series for me. No string attached, no scheming. Just a clean fight between superwoman/tiger and celestial/crow.

So very much this. I really hate unfair challenges. If I have an advantage, victory's hollow, and failure's sickening. The other way around, victory's sometimes glorious, sometimes wasted, failure's expected.
Enough filibuster. Roll on, the next 8 strips! They'll undoubtedly be awesome, with the finale of the fight on episode #600!
You know, I also have the feeling that the rest of the fighters will be inspired by this match (as a reflection of the artist getting the idea that the matches should go on faster perhaps).
I think they're all getting off on the fight. Well, except maybe Shou.
But Tenshi, Okuu and Byakuren are definitely somewhat excited about this.
Like I said before...these two teams are, for once, very evenly matched.
Previous matches...Remi and Reimu vs. Reisen and Youmu. Vampire and hax versus the servants. They *knew* they had no chance, so they tried to play dirty.
Ran and Chen vs. Orin and Yuugi. Ran played a good game, but it was obvious Yuugi was going to steamroll the Shikis.
Yuuka and Cirno vs. Sanae and Suwako. There was a huge power difference there. Yuuka's probably the only one besides Kanako who could hold her own against an Oni in a straight up fight. Popularity and plot armor won, but at least Yuuka and Cirno are friends now. The Strongest and the strongest. :)
Flan and Meiling vs. Suwako and Sanae. Flan's got great speed and power, but low stamina and defense. Meiling had the skills, but is really just an average youkai, when you get right down to it. Plus, the cheating.
Orin/Yuugi vs. Sakuya/'Koakuma'. That was just a friggin' mess, and the less said about it the better.
Was there another one? I forget...I don't think there has been though...anyway, point is, in all of the previous matches, there's been a definite imbalance for one side, or there's been rampant cheating
OH! That's right, Mokou and Keine versus Kaguya and Eirin. This was the closest to being a balanced match before now, and even then it was plagued by foul play by Kaguya's side...having the ref in her pocket, the stadium behind her...total psychological warfare against poor Mokou, who's never had the support network Kaguya's had. Really, all she has is Keine, and for a long time, she didn't even have her. Mokou was mentally destroyed, it wasn't a physical loss. Though Eirin's pressure point cheapness didn't help...
What I want to see, is what the match is like when Kaguya and Mokou are on the same side....that promises to be an outstanding one, providing there's no cheap wins or power imbalance (Like having them fight Yuugi and Suika or something stupid like that.)
My take on the Previous matches Remi and Reimu vs. Reisen and Youmu. Lopsided, only chance the 'goons' had was dirty play and taking advantage of Remilia's ego, but once the team issues were resolved, things ended fast.
Ran and Chen vs. Orin and Yuugi. The Shikigamis stood no chance, with taking the whole thing lightly and Ran's speciality being magic than physical combat.
Yuuka and Cirno vs. Sanae and Suwako. Overall power difference, ultimately Yuuka lost to her heart with a bit of help from Sanae. She may have lost the match but gained a friend.
Flan and Meiling vs. Suwako and Sanae. Concept and reality are different, more so when the former's trump card is very childish at heart... up against a war god. Sanae ultimately brought things under control on both sides as Suwako was overdoing it herself. Flan also got herself a friend now in Sanae.
Orin/Yuugi vs. Sakuya/'Koakuma'. Pretty even, but the various issues that folks brought into the fight made it a real mess.
The Kaguya's team vs Mokou's team one? It was rather clean if done about in a unfairly Genre savvy fashion. Eirin did go over the line, and Kaguya scolded her for it.
This match? Quite even and has a spirit of pure fun and games. Tenshi and Okuu are in this to mainly have fun.
As it stands, Byakuren has high stats but only for a limited time while Shou's a physical combat type unlike Ran. Fun'll be had no matter what.

Clean technically, yes...except for Aya being unabashedly on Team Eientei's side (2.9999 count? Come *on*). But that was just the physical part of the match. Kaguya mentally and emotionally traumatized poor Mokou, and was *enjoying* it 'till near the end, when she realized she wasn't acting like the hero she wanted to be.
My HOPE for the finals is that it'll be Kaguya/Mokou vs. Reimu/Remi. I'm really hoping Sanae and Suwako get beaten in their next match. Popularity armor and cheating, from those two, every match. It's disgusting. But Kaguya/Mokou vs Reimu/Remi, it feels kind of Kinnikumanish. Kinnikuman and Terry versus Robin and Brocken Jr.
I'm thinking the last panel shows Yukari (and Chen incidentally for cuteness) and Yuyuko for a reason. Yukari doesn't like Tenshi, but the match so far and Byakuren's comments are causing her to reevaluate her opinion, which she doesn't like. Yuyuko is smiling at Yukari because she understands this, and knows that it's better for Yukari to get over her prejudices. Well, that's my thesis at least.
