Add to that the fact that Mima get attacked by Marisa too,and you have yourself a Touhou version of Broly.

Confidence is not the same thing as ego, and condescension is not always mean-spirited or close-minded. Reimu had good reason to be confident even BEFORE she discovered her new trick, and probably doesn't expect Marisa to do something risky like swallow her Hakkero.

Reimu seems earnest with her apology (about Remilia's acting) and her concern. She's going to fight to win, but would rather not hurt her friend or see her friend get hurt.

This move, whether used by myself as the player or the AI, is at all times the knockout move. Marisa's butt-bounce succeeds where even the Sure-Fire Master Spark fails.
