after all that heavy work, one would expect a Kappa being able to throw you down in an instant.

Reimu is in big trouble, unless she does something to stop that Kappa from moving.

Marissa's already tuckered out and the match has barely started.

Surprisingly enough this is shaping up to be one of the better matches. R & R have got power enough to just crush all four of them and he doesn't seem to be shying away from showing that but power is useless if you can't apply it. Seems like we might wind up with a result that isn't total BS no matter which side wins.

    Which would be nice.

Well, the fight between Heavenly Sky Combo and LSWT was really good. And despite my hatred for how it was done, the fight with Hourai Master/Servant Combination and Pyramid Volcano was also a well done one, it was bullshit only because Master/Servant payed off Aya and used the crowd against them and not because of any fault of the writer. The very first and second fights must also be remembered as being well done.

Anyway, my point is that he CAN do fights that don't stir up problems and the ratio isn't as one sided as it seems. The only fight I have a problem with was the last one, all the other ones brought emotional aspects as the source of the loss but that one seemed like it should have been over half way through, the problem was that he made Higan Judgment too monstrous and... Eternal Rivals (?) too weak at the start, if the gap hadn't been so huge or if Eternal Rivals had used some emotional play or cheated (Freaking Kaguya) then it could have been much better.

I love how Reimu's speech is interrupted by her grunts of pain as she gets slammed on the ring

I still see it unfortunately being a Reimu win. (Not that there's anything wrong with it, but, it seems like "more popular" is usually the winner anyway, instead of just stronger.)

If that were true then Kaguya wouldn't have won the last match. The reason this match can logically go either way is because Marisa and Reimu both have character shields from being the main playable characters, so they both cancel each other out. If this were Kinnikuman then shouldn't Marisa and Nitori win since Reimu's reason to win is due to the cash prize?

Honestly, Kaguya's match could have went either way, though it was in her favor (out of the Eientei bunch, Kaguya and Eirin are the most popular), and in the second match, Eientei>>>>>Eientei in terms of popularity.

Also if it were Kinnikuman, then the Higan team would have won.

I'm honestly expecting a Reimu/Remi win still, but with the developments, it won't be an easy win.

You forgot how Kaguya and Mokou used the Moonsue asspull technique to boost their strength and toughness to unreasonable levels. It makes even Sanae's Magical Good girl technique pale in comparison.

I think Reimu is going to win because the hakkero boost really seems like a one-match gimmick to let Marisa have a good fight with Reimu. The over-heating drawback is not going to cut it in future matches once everybody realizes whats going on.

A lot of teams with similar gimmicks and drawbacks have dropped out as well. Byakuren and Ran/Chen for example.

There may also be repeatability issues. The whole thing was awfully last-minute, suggesting Marisa can't stay like that indefinitely and after a while she'll have to power down (or, as per my conspiracy theory, go berserk). This raises the question of what the turnaround time on doing it again is, assuming she can even do it again at all. She might not be able to use it against whoever the winner of this round is up against, and if that's the case, they really might as well not even bother.

But I think the main reason Reimu and Remi will win is that Reimu is the target of an actual evil plot, and that makes her the closest thing this strip has to a main character. Thus her plot armor is the strongest.

That evil plot IS the same plot where everyone with a grudge against Hakurei is throwing their eggs in one basket that is Marisa. Reimu's plot would be over whatever the result of this match.

It's still a better claim to the title of main character than anyone else has. (Second best claim would be Sanae, I think.)

    That was a surprise!
Are kappas really this much trouble for grappling?
    —muggh!
And she just keeps on throwing her!
Episode 727: The Next Moment After Being Caught is... From the Artist's Pixiv page.
    That's a kappa f—
Her tag-out switch slams Reimu to the mat!
In Her Element Literally, "a kappa that's gained water". Parodies the phrase 水を得た魚 ("a fish that's gained water"), meaning "to be in one's element".
And she doesn't stop—she throws Reimu again!
So in the moment when I'm grabbed, I'll be carried around.
She's going non-stop at full power.
    Whggh!
Still, it's not doing that much dam—
If anyone can hold down Reimu under these rules, it's Nitori.
