Not necessarily: the word 'inspiration' comes from the Latin 'spiritus', which means at the same time 'soul' and 'breath' (which is where the imagery of one's 'last breath' comes from, the idea being that your soul leaves with that breath). When one is 'inspired' the idea is that the gods breathed a part of their soul into you, motivating you to do or create divine things.

So the idea of one possessing a corpse by breathing one's soul into it via a kiss isn't so far-fetched.
