Nice trick. Next time I give out a joke present I'll make sure to hide in some good stuff too.

There's already a recognized "Charismoney" gag on Pixiv, deriving from a work by the artist Mosburger. (Technically, it's a "Charismoney Remy" cash card, based on the actual "Electronic Money Edy" offered by the company BitWallet. It could be used with cell phones or any credit card installed with Sony's FeliCa contactless IC.)

I have a question for Moonspeaker or any other of danbooru's regular translators. What's the best way to learn kanji (and I guess increase vocabulary in general)? Should I just try and memorize how they're pronounced in addition to the meaning? How do you know which pronounciation to use?

I find myself wondering: Do Marisa and Reimu signify a married couple? If so, I wonder whether Reimu signifies the man or the woman. The important point is that the woman is the one with full control over finances. So, if Reimu is the woman, the tears may be over losing an already limited resource. If the man, may be over having to give up a portion of a tiny amount allowed by a rather stingy Marisa.

I took courses in college, myself, and I've forgotten a good chunk of what I once knew by heart since I graduated.

If you're not going to take formalized classes, there are online learning tools available, though the better ones still cost you some.

Supplement that with a print or online kanji dictionary. You need to get a good idea of what constitutes a kanji's radical (defining element) and how kanji are drawn so you can either estimate stroke count or break down the rest of it into recognized elements. Then you can look it up in the dictionary.

Learning pronunciation just comes with practice and repeated experience using the kanji.

You could also try Anki, a free flash card program. It has downloadable decks for different topics, and can be expanded with custom additions.

    That's common practice in Japan.

If you don't know any kanji, you may be best served by just trying to read some simple comics and looking up every single kanji you come across. It's very slow going at first, and slower than practicing flashcards regardless of what level you're at, but I found it more rewarding than just grinding a meaningless list of kanji, and it has the benefit of naturally teaching you the most commonly used kanji before less commonly used ones.

Supplementing what glasnost wrote, manga that targets kids and teens (mainly shonen) generally has hiragana next to the kanji. Those would help in searching for the meaning online and would provide the pronunciation as well. And in general, those are usually the most common kanji you will see.

I dunno... Flandre's jewel wings? Patchy's books or Koa? Sakuya's knives? Possibilities are endless.

It makes me wonder if they have an amusement park in there.

    D'oh, you...

Though, I'm surprised no-one's made a blood bank joke yet. Then again, it'd seem forced.

    Wait, what's this?
It's money that you can use here at the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
    Sanae!!
By the way, I mixed in some Japanese Yen inside there, so don't throw it away.
    It's wrinkled by tears...
    Whoa! What an amazing bundle!
    Please use it gratefully.
