Same here, copulation isn't the only way for Demi-gods to appear (too much Western/Greek approach). As far as Eastern and specifically Japanese legends are concerned, even a God's touch would make an object divine. For example, Suwako may have blessed Sanae's mother and thus she gained her divinity.
Though let's not forget that Japanese Gods have their fair share of insane sexual advances as well.

Hmm. Sanane is her direct descendant, right? Suwako is the only character known to have children, whether from intercourse or magical birth, correct? Who knows? The story's kinda vague. I was caught off guard by certain... details on Suwako. Though I have heard that she's a non virgin many times, I'm still skeptical.
It's just based on which you want to believe in. Personally, I'm going with the "had kids the normal way" route. Making Suwako's first kid essentially a Demi-god and then each subsequential kid being watered down with more human blood. I'd like to believe in a more romantic story for Suwako's first kid instead of just some other God stuff or Virgin birth.
