It's generally frowned upon here to leave comments directed at the artist since they usually won't see it. Though most of the time, it's done out of ignorance and is better rectified by letting them know they should be leaving those comments at the source.

Well that explains a lot. Not sure why it's frowned upon but good to know.

It’s viewed as an attempt to pat yourself on the back for complimenting someone else’s hard work. It feels like it’s more about fishing for engagement and trying to get people to click the number-go-up arrow than genuinely complimenting the artist. As mentioned, if they wanted the artist to see it, they wouldn’t be commenting on a reposting site to do it.

Neither the story nor the setting made any sense, all the villains seemed to be motivated by was "for the evulz", as TV Tropes would put it, but at least he didn't turn a good novel into toilet paper as he did in Starship Troopers (IIRC he stopped reading it half or a third way in and had a flunkie summarise the rest to him).
