Tag Discussion: Various character tags

1. So, we have classic hakurei reimu, classic kirisame marisa and alice margatroid (young). I personally think they ought to all be the character name followed by the _(pc98) qualifier. What are everyone's thoughts? In any case, they ought to be consistent.

2. Should stakes of purgatory be marked as a character tag? Should it even exist? (Maybe it's better handled by one of those new tag groups on the wiki, or just as an afternote in the Umineko article.) If an image contains only one of the Stakes of Purgatory, should it still be tagged?

Why not simply "hakurei_reimu touhou_pc98" and "kirisame_marisa touhou_pc98"?

I wondered why it was alice_margatroid_(young) and not alice_margatroid young.

Wouldn't it be interesting to be able to search for all touhou_pc98 posts without having to OR all possible character tags? It'd also be shorter to input than "hakurei_reimu hakurei_reimu_(pc98)".

Wouldn't a search for *_(pc98) cover that, unless we discover other games that require that kind of qualifier?

As for the latter implication, implications could be set up if an admin feels like it, but I think PC98 fanart is uncommon enough it's not a big issue (assuming you're talking about uploaders, there should be no need to include both tags on a search.)

Well, that search does the OR behind the scenes, but ok. I still don't see why we need to have several tags (one pc98 variant for each character from that era) to do the job of one.

How many characters overlap pc98era and windows era? Any missing from post #325389?

Seems like it serves the same purpose as the Nanoha StrikerS numbers tag. [And no this is not an invitation to go changing that tag unnecessarily, leave it alone.] So it doesn't *have* to be typed. And it's not really a "character" so much as a group of individuals. It's probably fine as it is, but if we use it it should be used consistently.

arrancar is another useless tag like those.

Yup, that's all of them. But Mima hasn't appeared in the Windows series (yet), and the PC98 Yuka is pretty much the same except she wears pants or pajamas, so no one has seen fit to give her a separate tag.

Yeah, knew about Mima, and if Yuka (actually Yuuka, I've been meaning to change that for so long) doesn't need one then it looks like we're talking three tags, and they all exist...

Edit: Oh wait, we already do have the tag as Yuuka. Good, for some reason I thought I remembered the vowel wasn't properly extended.

Bumping because the first issue was never actually addressed. I'd like to request, at the least, a mass edit of alice_margatroid_(young) to classic_alice_margatroid (if no one cares to add a more specific qualifier.)

Or I could do it myself, but it'd be less cumbersome for a mod and I don't want to be accused of acting without discussion.

I believe that alice_margatroid_(young) is used over classic because Alice's physical age drastically changes, where Reimu and Marisa seem about the same age between PC-98 to Windows.

I'll just alias classic_alice_margatroid to alice_margatroid_(young) for now, if that's fine. We can always flip it around later if we decide to, but this would group the tags together at least.
