Tags question: What exactly is the difference between "sandals" and "open-toe_shoes"?

aren't they technically the same thing? what exactly separates the two tags?

"Open toe shoes" can cover more than sandals, from what I understand. Some open toe footwear can just have an opening at your toes and cover most of, if not the rest of your foot, but technically aren't considered "sandals".

Side note, maybe we could rename open_toe_shoes to "open_toe_footwear"?

It should then be merged with toeless boots

Sandals have one or more narrow straps holding them in place. The majority of the foot is exposed.

Shoes like in post #2181176, post #3644721, and post #3989142 should never be tagged as sandals.
