Tag Alias: starry_eyes -> +_+

Posted under General

I'm against this, on the grounds the the underscore is a replacement for a space, and in fact appears that way in the tag list. This causes +_+ to appear as + +.

If this must be done, I strongly recommend aliasing it in the other direction.

There's a large number of emoticon-type tags which use the underscore not as a space.

They may not being using it as a space, but it shows up as one.

As to the alias, I believe the usual method is to not use the emoticon when there is an obvious text based equivalent.

I know. I'm not talking about how it displays; I brought it up to point out that evidently the display discrepancy isn't inconvenient enough to stop people from creating and using such tags.

Don't know about "usual", but it's certainly a cleaner method.

I don't see the underscore appearing as a space as being an issue at all.

Aliased to +_+, just to get them under one tag. You can all hash out which tag they'd prefer at your leisure and if necessary they can be moved to something else.

+_+ would imply to me people with eyes like Nia's...which are pretty much Nia and...uhh...nono, not "starry eyes", which would be eyes with stars in them.

Also, emoticon tags should only be used in cases where the face actually resembles said emoticon, not for the general concept the emoticon is abstracting.

This is how the tag was originally used, I don't know if it changed recently because I didn't really look before the alias.

I thought so too, but looking at a lot of other images under the tag, it seems that eyes that are definitely meant to be stars are still depicted similarly - with the cross-shaped star. I just know there's a scientific term for that but it's not coming to me.

Do they still count for the tag?

It would be *_* but that's not an allowed tag because of wildcards.
