Well... We do, but a serafuku is not quite a sailor_uniform (in the sense that it's not what a sailor would wear--think Donald Duck), nor are all school_uniforms serafuku, so even though it's based on a loan term it's also a unique term that doesn't have a fitting equivalent in English (as far as I know).
This on the other hand does, in melon_bread, so I am also in favor of aliasing to that.

This for the same reason we stopped using pantsu and many other godawful borrow words with perfect equivalents.
I don't have a problem with either meronpan or melonpan but I've aliased both to melon_bread anyway.
