It would be better to have a wiki page listing all tags.

Added to the search some attires which already have a tag. Some of their posts overlapped with meme attire despite not implying it. Anyway, the count of remaining posts to check goes down to 305.

A recurring overlap in the search is mogador_(olfactory_nursery_call)_(azur_lane) meme_attire. As far as I’m aware, mogador_(olfactory_nursery_call)_(azur_lane) is an outfit for just one character… I don’t know why there’s an overlap, it shouldn’t be a meme attire. I’d exclude it from the search if it doesn’t need a new tag (since it already has an outfit tag), but I’ll leave the decision to someone who knows better.

It shouldn't be tagged as meme attire to begin with. If there were other characters wearing that outfit then those posts should be tagged mogador_(azur_lane)_(cosplay) as is custom for artists that draw other characters in an official alternate costume of a character from another copyright, like Mash Kyrielight (Dangerous Beast) (see mash_kyrielight_(cosplay) as a rudimentary search). It's safe to remove meme attire from those posts.

Meme attire itself is meant to refer to outfits that aren't attached to a specific character as their official alternate costume but have been widely redraw by artists as a meme. Things like yomorio lingerie and chronopattern dress are not the official alternate costume of any established character but they've been widely redrawn; that is what would qualify for meme attire.

Before you untagged them, did you check which post among those was the earliest tagged with meme attire and who tagged them? That might help us in figuring out why it was tagged to begin with.

The earliest instance among the overlapping posts was post #9029189. It got meme attire because at one point it had translucent bunnysuit, which implied the meme attire tag. However, the translucent bunnysuit tag was removed. In fact, none of the posts depicting mogador_(olfactory_nursery_call)_(azur_lane) currently have translucent bunnysuit. I tried looking at other outfits of other characters but they don’t overlap with meme attire unless there’s another meme attire depicted.

Either way, in those instances Mogador’s outfit includes something closer to a transparent leotard/see-through leotard at most, a tag which is already on several Mogador posts. The translucent bunnysuit seems to have a different design.

Browsing meme attire, there are so many posts which already have a specific tag for the outfit they’re depicting.

So I decided to remove more specific attire tags from the search like nnt did. Some of them can be found in the meme attire wiki. For a few, a meme attire implication was being discussed in forum #355934. I also removed posts overlapping with meme attire request, since they’re grouped by the request tag and can be fixed even after meme attire gets nuked. This search gives around 30 results and I’m kinda stuck here. Plus, a few posts are banned so either way I need someone else to check this search.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to make boomer shirt or cringe shirt or cringe merchandise, but it needs to be populated. women_want_me_fish_fear_me_(meme) has a lot of it.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea tbh, but if we generalize it too much then we'll end up with things like ahegao_pattern on it. I was more thinking about something like this one, where text is the predominant cringe factor:

Hm, I agree, this is a perfectly taggable concept someone would wanna search, but I think "cringe shirt" is too...I think aggressive a term. Maybe something like "image macro shirt"? A lot of these shirts would be image macros were they not on shirts.

I'll throw out a suggestion: cringe_text_apparel. Covers hats, shirts, etc.

It's admittedly clinical-sounding, so I'm not in love with it.
