BUR #44660 is pending approval.

nuke radioactive

Radiation is invisible. What the images under this tag show are:

  • the radiation symbol
  • glowing stuff with unknown properties, usually green
  • medical equipment that you might know (but not be able to see) emits radiation
  • biohazards (based on their use of the biohazard symbol)

Since we should tag what we see, not what we know, I think this radioactive tag should be nuked (rimshot).

I agree on all points except the second one, there are most likely some cases where the tag would be appropriate.

Here are the posts in the "glowing green stuff" category that don't feature a radiation_symbol.
post #510628 - This one I think could validly be tagged radioactive.
post #3614192 - (rating:q) Without the commentary I would have had no idea this was supposed to show radioactivity. I don't know if the commentary can influence tagging like that.
post #4237544 - It's green and glowing, but there's no indication that it's actually radioactive. Not even in the commentary.
post #8872627 - Could be radioactive or it could be a biohazard. I don't know enough about Tarkov to say.
post #9378898 - Probably better to find this with fallout glowing.
post #9378918 - Same as above.
There's a couple of Gold account images that I can't comment on.

I think if they have a radiation symbol (which I should mention most of them do), that's a better signal to search by. Of the above, I personally judge 3 of them able to accurately be tagged as radioactive. (The first one and maybe the Fallout ones.)
What do you think?

"glowing green stuff" could be replaced with radiation. (also, shouldn't this be a deprecation bur?)

I wasn't aware of this tag. I have some of the same gripes about required knowledge, like these posts post #8973366 post #5788916 post #5641282, but for the most part it is better tagged than radioactive, which is largely acting as a mistag for radiation_symbol at the moment. Perhaps I will just manually clean up the tags in radiation and remove those Reiuji Utsuho posts if no one disagrees (except ones like this where do actually depict radiation: post #6467148).

On deprecation, maybe. I'm not sure now. I think it is currently being badly misused, but that it isn't impossible for it to be used correctly.
