If you're actually looking for the male futa equivilent we have cuntboy with female but it is incredibly niche. Trap hetero is the search you're probably looking for or maybe crossdressing_(mtf) hetero

Conversely, what about trap_with_trap/trap_on_trap? This tag does exist on Gelbooru; is there a reason it doesn't on Danbooru (yet/anymore)?
There is josou_seme yaoi or josou_seme 2boys, but that does not imply the bottom/sub/taker is also a trap, and trap yaoi results in mostly trap bottoms.
Because of this, it's currently difficult to find trap posts that do not feature non-trap males. Maybe there is a better solution, or something I'm overlooking?
The distinction does exist for futas in futa_with_futa, futa_with_male/futa_on_male, and male_on_futa.
Should this tag be introduced, what would be the best course of action? I think that if it would go the same route as the futa tags, quite a few new tags might need to be introduced for all the possible combinations, even more if 'with' and 'on' are also distinct. Some might already be possible with tag combinations, though some might require a gold account.
There are also ~34k trap -solo posts currently, would those all need to be retroactively tagged? I don't see how that could be bulk updated.

that would be the natural long-term conclusion of creating a trap with trap tag. all it takes is someone with enough motivation to make those tags, and the support of the userbase. personally i'm ambivalent, though i will mention that while there is no tangible way of searching for "two or more traps in a single image", a trap_on_male tag for example can be expressed as simply trap yaoi josou_seme.

trap josou_seme would probably be a good start for picking out candidate posts. from there, i'm afraid manual paging through the trap tag would have to suffice.

While I'm not really sure there is any precedent for such a tag, I think just a generalized tag like multiple traps would be nice for searching. The "futa with" tags apparently require sexual interactions. For something with traps, though, I feel it would be a shame to exclude multiple characters interacting non-sexually like post #2888406 and post #4704843. That is something that, if any new tags required sexual interactions, would still be difficult to specifically search.
That might be better. Alternatively, something like traps_only, to search with multiple_boys? That would also exclude non-trap males and would be much more versatile to use in combination with other tags compared to each separate combination like the futa tags currently, and could still take a rating filter to exclude sexual posts.

I agree that some sort of new tag to make trap interactions more easily searchable would be useful. To get things started, I created a favgroup with 1k posts for EB's multiple traps tag idea. Included are any posts I found where 2+ traps are visible, regardless of if they're interacting sexually, romantically, platonically, or not interacting with each other at all.

And here's a favgroup for fgbooru's trap with trap idea in case that is preferred for consistency with existing tags like futa with futa. This one has just the subset of the above posts where the traps are interacting sexually or romantically with each other, which is about half as many posts as the first favgroup.
I feel this is a slippery slope to stuff like multiple_loli, multiple_bara, multiple_mature, ect.
Futa_with is different because it is a unique sex with a specific anatomy. I don't know about x_with_x for characters subtypes seems like it could spiral to nonsense, but on paper it is a taggable concept in this instance.

These situations aren't really all that similar in my opinion. You can already effectively search for them with two-tag searches: loli multiple_girls, bara multiple_boys, and mature_female multiple_girls. 95% of the results are what you'd be looking for, so a new tag wouldn't have much extra utility.
Compare those to trap multiple_boys, where less than half of the results contain multiple traps. Even if you add a bunch of exclusions like trap multiple_boys -mob_x_character -ugly_bastard -disembodied_hand -disembodied_penis -mature_male -age_difference -size_difference it still doesn't improve the results noticeably. Part of that is because those excluded tags like mob x character are very undertagged, but even if those were to hypothetically be tagged more consistently there would still be no way to exclude posts like post #9009721 or post #4691865 from the search.

Doesn't seem like a problem to me, I mean, almost no one goes "Hmm, I want to search for x_with_y but x/y is not a 'unique sex' so never mind I guess".
I understand not wanting color tags for all types of headwear or something similar, but for a site about tagging art these forums sure seem scared of tags sometimes, even for things users totally would want to search for. Is there something I am missing? <-- genuine question by the way, I lurk more than I post here but always wondered about this.

echoing what Toks said, in my mind, the improved searchability of an otherwise hopelessly unsearchable, but desirable concept is an acceptable compromise for some genius some day deciding that every character archetype suddenly needs pairing tags, in which case we can always just tell them why that can't be.

i was also making my own favgroup for this lol.
imo trap with trap probably won't be necessary because favgroup:47753 yaoi is already mostly that. if only one were going to pass, i'd prefer multiple traps since it's more useful
