This one should be rejected, as the Amagi carrier and Amagi battleship are completely separate.

Should the tag be renamed then?
Technically speaking, the battlecruiser Amagi shouldn't even have a Kancolle chartag, as unlike Azur Lane the battlecruiser Amagi isn't actually a character in KC. But Kancolle also has a lot of chartags for vessels that aren't actually characters, too. JS Kaga (Kancolle) is the largest, but lots of the more modern Japanese vessels have Kancolle chartags for whatever reason, while more modern versions of other nations' vessels tend to be gentags like USS Iowa (SSN-797) or HMS Warspite (S103).
It feels like the more modern vessels were at first given Kancolle chartags, and then more recently have just been gathered under gentags that would also apply to the vessel. The same can be said for the uneven application of "personification" chartags: some vessels have one, others the gentag is used for both the actual vessel and original personifications.

Well, that's sort of a consequence of the personification drama among the military tags. A select handful of military taggers were getting incredibly sick and tired of the use of the gentags for personifications, giving us the birth of the personification chartags which were intended to act as replacements for the gentags, but because only those handful cared the actual execution in practice for them has been mixed (and this isn't even talking about whether the gentags are still used on those posts or not, but also qualifier inconsistency, would-be gentags being stuck as chartags, and a lack of interest in figuring out whether specific personifications belong to a series or not - because the main purpose was just to banish them from the gentags, which may even be a minority opinion).
Regardless, this does suggest to me that a battlecruiser_amagi_(kancolle) rename would be warranted, if we follow the JS chartag formats.

I wonder if it might be worth starting a thread with a BUR where people can vote whether or not they find these "personification" tags useful or not. I'll see what I can find as an example.
Regarding the JS chartags, my personal feeling is that they should just be nuked or merged into the personification tags because none of them are actual Kancolle characters, but that's just my opinion.

If you do that, I'd recommend checking who made all those tags and pinging them in your thread, just because it'd be better to debate it with them if they're still around while it is an ongoing discussion as opposed to them noticing after everything is said and done, and, say, if the end result was a comprehensive nuke, them reverting the edits in opposition.

So the more correct version of, for example, sms derfflinger personification would be to create a char sms derfflinger_(personification) tag?

If every vehicle that's personified needs its own personification char tag, then yes that would be more correct. If not, then the correct move would be to alias the personification char tags into the gentags of the vehicle. That's basically the question, but the issue is that the drama that led to the creation of personification char tags was years ago and they haven't been well applied beyond a few more notable vehicles.

My forum-fu may be failing me, but I haven't found any threads discussing creating *_(personification) tags. I've found lots of discussion around the tag personification, but nothing that would really apply as the discussions (from 10 years ago) were regarding whether or not to add said tag to images of Kancolle characters.
As to those who created them, I've looked through some of the more prominent ones and they say the original creators are users who aren't here anymore, so I guess I'll just post the BUR for now: topic #33046

New outfits found on merchandise or standees during the Kure collab this month. These only cover those with fanart already uploaded here as there are other new outfits with no fanart found and/or uploaded as of yet, not even Mogador's new swimsuit sighted this week (a photo of a poster for Mogador's swimsuit got uploaded hours ago).
Just making this BUR now while NNTBot is seemingly preoccupied by everything else going on.
