So Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Magia Exedra just got its first geniune original official alternate costume (though the swimsuit alts are apparently slightly modified from Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Gaiden). I don't know if this is the right name for it, but this is what I'm going with unless someone can tell me otherwise.

The user who contacted me previously over Discord regarding Project Moon E.G.Os has asked me to share this here:
As Knowledge Seeker said in the first message, a couple of MagiReco alts got rehashes in Exedra. Those are:
- Tomoe Mami (Swimsuit ver.),
- Miki Sayaka (Surfer ver.),
- Kaname Madoka (Swimsuit ver.),
- Karin & Alina (Halloween ver.), tagged as Alina Gray (Halloween ver.) and Misono Karin (Halloween ver.) separately (though only Alina got refreshed, Karin's outfit stays the same in both iterations)
- Rika & Ren (Christmas ver.), tagged separately as Ayano Rika (Christmas ver.) and Isuzu Ren (Christmas ver.) (Exedra version has no posts yet on Danbooru, it was announced earlier today).

Alrighty, I'm here, and man it's been a while since I got into a proper Madoka tag debate. But I think it's important to consider, as I want to make sure we do this in a way users find helpful.
Comparing the Magia Record versions of the costumes to the Magia Exedra versions, as the user points out, there are more remarkable differences than at a glance.
For example, Mami's swimsuit alt has a different top, Sayaka's gained a thighhigh and...What I think are detached sleeves? Madoka's has a different skirt and more frills, and Alina's Halloween alt now has legs alongside hair flowers and a gold chain. The upcoming Rika and Ren Christmas alts in Exedra are no different in that regard.
The question here (and the one I think this user is proposing) is: "Are they different enough to qualify as different costumes?" While I am currently of the opinion that I think a simple copytag difference will work for IDing which exact design, that doesn't really help when if, for example, a new Madoka game releases further down the line that has the Exedra versions of the swimsuit alts further down the line, especially since then the old designs would not be easy to search for.
However, my main fear with this argument is that that is exactly the reasoning used in the current Mario costume tagging disaster me and Damian here are trying to fix, so I'm naturally adverse to the idea, especially when the differences are major enough to be noticeable, but still minor enough to be recognizable as the Magia Record costumes.
I'm willing to run the BUR as proposed to see what users think, but these are my general thoughts on the whole situation, and one to be wary of. Especially since we are already seeing artwork leaning more into the Exedra designs than the Record ones. Whatever is decided here will set a precedent moving forward regarding how we handle the returning costumes in Exedra and their changes to the design, both in how this thread is used and how the costumes are tagged depending on their differences. Which approach is better?
(I'm just waiting till I can get at least the Kioku art of Rika and Ren's Christmas outfit as by "upcoming" I apparently meant "today", so I can lump them into the BUR instead of having to tack it on later lol.)

The way costume tags are currently set up, if I want to look up art of Alina's halloween costume, all I need to do is search Alina Gray (Halloween Ver.). If you want specifically the Exedra version, you can do alina_gray_(halloween_ver.) mahou_shoujo_madoka_magica_magia_exedra. If this BUR goes through, now it's under two separate tags because of minimal differences in design. No thank you.

I was originally going to ignore this like I did with most returning costumes from Magia Record, but Homura's ended up looking so drastically different from her Magia Record swimsuit alt, that I can only believe this is a completely separate costume entirely.
So to the new tag and imply BUR hell it goes.
