Parent Determination

Posted under General

If the two links you shared were uploaded by the same artist, I would add unfinished to the simpler version and set the completed version(~55135) as the parent. However, if they are works by different artists, since the simpler version served as a motif for the other artist's work, I would add derivative work to the completed version and set the simpler version(~35233) as the parent.
This case appears to be the latter.

The base is by another artist.
Is this the parenting setup you're suggesting? It would be impossible to navigate through a comic that's a derivative work.

That's a case like post #7780503 where each derivative work post is linked to one another. In these cases, I prioritize the parenting between the derivative work posts themselves.
In this example, the original scene is noted in the comments for each post, but honestly I think it's sufficient to just leave a note on the parent post indicating which work (or scene) it was derived from.

On a different note, how should "bare" bases be tagged? I personally used the "base_(art)" tag, but the original post with that tag was more of a reference to the DeviantArt base concept than a base itself. There's a "template" tag, but it's mainly for images, where the user is expected to paste in a background or enter text rather than draw anything themselves.

The post you uploaded has hashtags #트레틀 and #이메레스 in commentary. #이메레스(Image Response) is where you draw something based on a given word or phrase, and #트레틀 seems to be what we're looking for. It's short for 트레이싱 틀 (tracing frame), and apparently pose base is the correct term in English.

The problem I'm seeing here is that YCHs are included in the favgroup, which both template and final version are supposed to fall under, as well as are a type of commission (which would not be something I want to see in a pose base tag).

I suppose if we don't care about that technicality, it's not going to be too annoying to exclude (as it is a correct in a technical sense). But do note that the overlap between pose base and YCH commission may pose a problem, as I search for pose bases to try drawing myself, and YCHs are something one commissions an artist to draw for you. Does that make sense at all? Or am I overthinking things as I tend to.
