I don't really like the implication from taiyaki even if it's technically correct just because taiyaki is so much larger than the entire animal-themed food tag that it would flood the results.

Nope. Take gummy bears for example. They seem to be animal-themed food, but not considered food art since they are mass-produced instead of being handmade.

I feel iffy on this implication, but it seems the main issue is (correctly) any additional bad implications to animal-themed food as opposed to the actual main BUR itself, so here's one with just the main BUR solo.

I'll also add that there are many posts that should have the "animal-themed_food" tag but don't (which is true for any tag). I went through the "food_art" tag and added it where it was missing. I also added the tag to many posts with "omurice" and some from the "food ai:animal -animal -animal-themed_food" search.
I'm sure there are still many posts I haven't found, but for now, the percentage of posts with the "taiyaki" tag in this new search has changed.

Food art should be handmade and creative, not mass-produced or generic. Tako-san wiener and apple rabbit shouldn't count because they're not original and creative on the same level as latte art.
I don't think animal-themed food should be for mass-produced food either, taiyaki is just going to drown out original handmade food items.
