What is the point of getting rid of singular tag when a dozen other already exist and are legitimized by implications?

I guess there isn't one really. Sometimes when I see a lukewarm reaction to a BUR I propose, my reaction is to offer an alternative even if it's not the best idea or a pointless BUR. Usually, I'm good at stopping myself from hitting "submit" in those instances, but this one got through.
