12, 林考 Idea Forest
林の中の木々はどれも似通っている様に、思考の形態も似通っているかもしれない。一本一本の区別を付けるというのも案外苦労しそうだし、一本に的を絞ったとしてもその一本を理解しきれるとは思えない。木漏れ日が常に様々な表情を見せるように、いくらでも掘り下げる事が出来てしまう。似通っているという仮定を信じて一本を丹念に調べてもいいし、複数の木を見比べても構わない。どんな手法を取った所で、本当の意味での正解は無い。だとしたら、どうしてそんなに思いを巡らしてしまうのだろう。その答えは、問いを立てたところでたちどころに見えてくるものでもなく、本当にこの林の中に転がっているのかどうかすらもよくわからない。仮に一旦無くなってしまったら、見えて来るものがあるのだろうか。

"Just as the trees in a forest all look alike, the structures of our thoughts may also resemble one another. Telling them apart seems surprisingly difficult, and even if we focus on a single tree, it feels impossible to ever fully comprehend it. Much like sunlight filtering through the canopy, constantly shifting its expression, we can delve into a single thought indefinitely. We might trust the assumption of their similarity and study one tree intently, or we could compare several. Whichever path we choose, there is no ultimate right answer.If that is so, why do we lose ourselves so deeply in reflection? The answer does not instantly reveal itself just because a question is asked, and it is uncertain whether it even lies within this forest at all. If everything were to fall away and vanish for a moment, would what we are searching for finally come into view?"
