Sometimes, y'just forget that Momi didn't originally have those diddley wolfy ears.
Makes me wonder if she'll have them when and if she gets in-game art (Hope she does, so used to them now!).

In Symposium of Post-Mysticism, one of the official Touhou Fanbooks, she is drawn sans animal ears, while she does have wolf ears in Oriental Sacred Place, one of the official comics.
[conjecture]I give personal precedence to the comic only because ZUN wrote the story and presumably would be more involved in Hirasaka Makoto's part of the comic than simply allowing or disallowing a particular piece of fan art. I imagine that the art was already done when it came to him, while he might've been able to say "Give her wolf ears" while making the comic. [/conjecture]
Then again, maybe ZUN simply gave the artist the script and left it up to his creative preferences.
    Yeah, I don't know either.

Given that she is seen with no wolf ears more often in official materials, I think it's safe to say that she isn't supposed to have them. The OSP one is probably the author's creative preference.

Uh, yeah, he also wrote Symposium.

The fact that he wrote it from Akyuu's point of view has, for reasons no one clearly understands, caused people to believe that Akyuu herself, a fictitious creation of ZUN's, somehow wrote the book on her own, despite not actually existing, lacking sentience, or in any other way being able to act on her own.

Truly, it boggles the mind. And yet, people still blame Akyuu for any and all inconsistencies in "her" books. I dunno, maybe they're just too willing to forget that the real author is human (makes mistakes), has a comically notorious drinking problem, and/or has created inconsistencies in his own games.

My point? Your rationale is basically "ZUN wrote it, so he most likely gave the artist input, and that's why the comic's art is more right than the art in a book he ALSO wrote, and whose artists also most likely received input from him."

It's like saying one Marvel Comics artist is more right than another in his depiction of Captain America, even if Stan Lee wrote both stories and gave both artists feedback. You know, just kinda silly.

    Anyway, I've said my piece.

Sounds like you're blaming people for taking Akyuu's book too literally. They are blamming Akyuu for the errors because Akyuu doesn't get the facts straight first. Not because they are in a round about way blaming ZUN. They are blaming the character Akyuu for writing her book without taking the extra time to verify her facts.

ZUN wrote it from Akyuu's point of view, the book was never ment to be "Right". In fact, the book itself gives insight on Akyuu just as it does on the other other characters. It may not be 100% correct, but she does get a fair amount of info correct.
