    October 29, 1946. 10 days after Takao was sunk as a target ship by the HMS Newfoundland at the Straits of Malacca.

    Mizuho Takao rescued 471 crewmembers of Mizuho after she was sunk by USS Drum (SS-228) on May 2, 1942.
    Un'you Takao helped escort Un'you to Yokosuka in early February 1944. The escort carrier had been struck in her starboard bow by three torpedoes from USS Haddock (SS-231) and couldn't move faster than 12 knots.
    On February 1, 1945, 113 B-29 Superfortresses attacked the Selatan Naval Base where Takao and Myouko were moored. Both ships had been relegated to AA platforms as they could not be repaired in Singapore, nor towed back to Japan.
