From what I hear, the kappa was dragged all the way to the stable, where it asked, "What will you do? Let me go? Kill me?" It was made to promise that it would never do wrong to horses again and then set free.

    It's that kind of story.

Nitori seems like she'd use the power of science to drag it in, though. :-)

Incidentally, they also do kappa fishing here, in which they hang cucumbers from the ends of fishing devices.

Reader-added tags include "Makibaō" (see here and here, among other places), "Now, this is horsepower", and "It's coming from the side—watch out!"

For the survey, suddenly, an encounter:

    A Nitori has appeared!
    • Sumo-wrestle her
    • Give her cucumbers
    • Give her cucumber seeds
    • Give her a shirikodama
    • Propose to her

    • Give her cucumbers.

One day I really want to meet some kind of monster I can easily repel in a silly way.

Maybe there are hippos in the water? They're literally called "stream horses" in Finnish.

This sounds like a reversal of some tales in Scotland, where a "horse" (actually a kelpie or each uisge) would force YOU into a river or lake. And then EAT you...

    (So...Nitori+Kelpie=...?)

That would probably be because hippopotamus comes from the Greek for river horse.

Yeah I know. You can guess it confused the hell out of me before I learned that hippo is greek for horse.

Nitori is hearing Kogasa-Author's and Yuyu-Boss's conversation, and she isn't happy about it.
Impending Doom (or similar pools), anyone?

Kappabuchi... A river location, translating as "Kappa Depths".
...and so the story goes that she was dragged away instead.
It does seem she's never succeeded, doesn't it.
    A certain kappa lives here.
