Redundant suggestion to the translation of title, "kaveri" in my humble opinion translates better as "buddy".

The idea for this comic came all the way from America.

I think this means he was given the idea by a comment sent by someone from America. Great that he takes fan suggestions comic ideas...or does he mean the "wolf howling at the moon" is an American symbol? I know as a picture a "wolf howling at the moon" is on everything from t-shirts to collectables to the point of being gaudy.

I had given him this idea not too long ago as part of an appreciation message from the US on Pixiv. He said he liked it and would draw it in the future. Really excited to see it now ^^

I felt "friend" was better as the two are colloquially used interchangeably, Facebook uses "kaveri" and it seemed to fit the mood better.

If the distinction between close friend and just an aqcuaintance was a particular point here, I'd agree.
