    You can download most of the old training manuals. Primitive to say the least, compared to modern privatized training. They pretty much sum training in really basic terms and expect the soldiers to survive and learn from experience. My personal favorite is the KGB manual on the improvised combat section. They show a drawn soviet soldier throwing a razor blade like 10 yards into a US Marine's neck. Pretty optimistic view of the situation from the Soviet's perspective. As far as I know, this has never actually been done.
