I just noticed that Akatsuki has a searchlight attached to her leg in first panel.

For people who don't play the game, the searchlight is an item that, when equipped during night battles, decreases the chance the enemy ships will do cut-in attacks, but as a result, the ship with the searchlight will get targeted more.

So now we know the reason Akatsuki's all banged up.
