A ryo is about half an ounce, 550$ right now. The collector's value is way higher.

Sort of interestingly, the price of gold has skyrocketed since the 90s. It's five times what it was in the year 2000. It has only started to go back down relatively recently.

Additionally, they had these gold panning places in California. Although, thanks to the rising gold costs, I'm curious if any of them are still open. That vial Kogasa is holding is a real blast from my childhood. I might even still have it around somewhere.
